Biographical / Historical
Ferdinand Gerhard Walther, along with his twin brother Constantine, was born 23 February 1847, the son of C. F. W. Walther and his wife Emily (nee Buenger). Ferdinand received his early schooling in Saint Louis and studied at Concordia College, Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis, graduating from the latter in 1871. He spent his entire ministry of 49 years at Brunswick, Missouri. On 27 May 1873 he married Bertha Biltz, the daughter of Pastor F. J. Biltz, Concordia, Missouri. He died in Saint Louis on Ascension Day, 25 May 1933.
