The collection consists of hand-illustrated postcards sent by Meyer to Pastor Alfred C. Doerffler Jr. between 1907 and 1916.

Biographical / Historical
Meyer was born in Chicago on 14 February 1884. He prepared for the ministry at Concordia College (Milwaukee) and Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis), graduating in 1906. He served parishes in Indiana Harbor, Indiana; Millstadt, Illinois; and Saint John Lutheran Church (Wilmette, Illinois). He also served as Visitor of the Tenth Circuit, Northern Illinois District, and as editor of the Northern Illinois Messenger. He was married to Agatha Handtke on 30 November 1916; they had a son and a daughter. A sister, Anna, was married to Rev. F. E. Brauer, and a sister, Elsa, was the wife of Prof. Paul Reuter.
