The collection contains Wilde's diploma from the Addison teachers seminary (1867) and his call documents to Warsaw and Wine Hill, Illinois.

Biographical / Historical
Wilde was born 2 March 1844 at Freistadt, Wisconsin. He attended parochial school there and was confirmed by Ottomar Fuerbringer. From 1866 to 1867 he attended the Missouri Synod teachers seminary at Addison, Illinois. Having completed his examination in 1867, he was called to teach at Warsaw, Illinois. After 12 years he took a call to the school at Wine Hill, Illinois, where he taught for 22 years. In 1868 he married Therese Schlender, and the couple had five children. His wife and a son, Teacher Albert Wilde, preceded him in death. He died on 31 August 1929 at Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

The items in the collection were given to the Institute director, August R. Suelflow, in January 1997 by an unknown donor, having been found in some old books in Wisconsin.
