Scope and Contents

The collection consists of an autograph book signed by Professors August Craemer and Philip Fleischmann and numerous fellow students of both the teacher and theological seminaries in Fort Wayne in late September and early October 1860. Some of the entries include the birthplace and dates of the signers.

Biographical / Historical

Wilk was born 4 October 1841 in Freistadt, Wisconsin, and died 12 March 1906. He prepared for the teaching ministry at the Missouri Synod teacher training school at Fort Wayne, Indiana. He taught first at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and then for 23 years at Concordia, Missouri, where he also served as organist. Illness forced him to retire in 1904. He was buried at Concordia, Missouri, on 17 March 1906.
