Scope and Contents
The collection consists of fragments of a German letter and notes on the baptism of a Johann Karl Wiegand on 28 September 1876. Transcription and translation are included.

Biographical / Historical
Willner was born 15 August 1851 at Zellerfeld am Harz, Hannover. He attended a Gymnasium in Germany before coming to the U.S. and completing his preparation for the pastoral ministry at the Missouri Synod's practical seminary in Saint Louis, Missouri, in 1874. He served the following parishes: Salem, Chandlerville, Illinois; Zion, Palmyra, Missouri; Saint John, Quincy, Illinois; Zion, Moberly, Missouri; and Saint Paul, Webster City, Iowa. He married Maria Magdalena Miller in Washington, D.C., in 1874. The couple had two sons and four daughters, one of whom became the wife of a missionary to Australia. He died of tuberculosis at Colfax, Iowa, on 11 April 1904.
