Biographical / Historical
Kurth was born on 6 May 1898 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of William Kurth and Elizabeth (nee Treskow) Kurth. He graduated from Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis, in 1922 and served parishes in Hopkins, Minnesota; Brooklyn, New York; Fort Wayne, Indiana; Detroit and Saint Clair Shores, Michigan; and Los Angeles, California. He was active in preparing Bible study and catechetical helps, writing tracts and preaching for a southern California Lutheran radio program. He also served various offices in the English and Southern California districts of the Missouri Synod and on the synodical Board of Appeals and Catechism Committee. He died 22 October 1989 in Anaheim, California, and is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Glendale, California.
