The collection contains correspondence, including letters written to family members while he was a student at Fort Wayne and Saint Louis, 1862-1870, and as president of the English Synod; sermons; personal documents, including a draft exemption document (1862) and a certification for the ministry signed by C. F. W. Walther; and documents pertaining to his literary work.

Kuegele served as president of the English Missouri Synod and as pastor at Cumberland, Maryland, and Waynesboro, Virginia. He wrote several volumes of Country Sermons.
