Biographical / Historical
Kenneth Wittenburg was born on March 15, 1927 in Mallard, Iowa. He was drafted into the army during World War 2 and was discharged in 1946. He enrolled at Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, Illinois in the fall of 1947, and graduated from the Seminary in 1952. He served parishes in Lake George, Minnesota and Glenwood City, Wisconsin before becoming a Chaplain in the Army in 1961. As a Chaplain, he served at military bases in Missouri, Germany, Vietnam, Kansas, and Texas. He retired from the military in 1979, and returned to Parish ministry, serving congregations in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, and then in Lake George, Minnesota, which was also his first parish. He retired in 1989.
