Biographical / Historical
E.A.W. Krauss was born on 4 June 1851 in Bavaria. His early training took place at a Gymnasium in Augsburg. He studied theology at Erfurt and Leipzig from 1869 to 1873. In 1873 he came to America. The next year he took a call at Cedarburg, Wisconsin. In 1875 he returned to Germany to become the pastor of the Free Church in Sperlingshof, Baden. In 1880 he returned to America to be the director of the Normal School in Addison, Illinois. He also taught Religion, Pedagogics, German, and some Church History. In 1915 he began to teach homiletics at Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis. He died on 9 October 1924.
