Biographical / Historical

Erhard Harms, son of Herman A. Harms, was born January 22, 1916 in Batavia, Illinois. He graduated from Concordia College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1937, and from Concordia Seminary in Saint Louis in 1941. He served as a missionary in Freeport and Pasedena Texas, and as pastor of Immanuel Lutheran in Iowa Falls, Iowa, before entering the Army as a military chaplain. He was serving with the U.S. Constabulary in Germany at the time of the correspondence with Sasse. He retired from active duty in 1969, and served Trinity Lutheran Church in Coal Valley, Illinois, until his retirement from the ministry in 1974. He died December 21, 2006.
