Scope and Contents
The collection contains correspondence and handwritten notes on Missouri Synod committee meetings, especially the Committee on Higher Education (1932-1938) and the early meetings of the Board for Higher Education (1939), as well as meetings between the Missouri Synod Praesidium and signers of "A Statement" (1945).

Biographical / Historical
Henry Grueber was born on 21 November 1877 in Frankenmuth, Michigan. He attended Concordia College (Fort Wayne) and Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis), graduating in 1901. From 1921 to 1932 he was the president of the South Wisconsin District. From 1932 to 1947 he was a vice-president of the Synod. He was the president of the Synod's Board for Higher Education from 1932 to 1951. He died in February of 1959.
