The collection consists of correspondence with Ludwig Fuerbringer (3 letters, 1931-1933) and with Pastor Bernhardt Meschke (1947-1955) and Mr. Paris D. Phipps (1952-1955).

Biographical / Historical
Iwan was born 5 August 1871 in Falkenberg, Germany. He received theological training at Breslau and Halle. He served as the vicar at Glate and as chaplain in the "Kaisergrenadier" Regiment in Berlin before serving as a pastor to Germans in Australia for 9 years and in Argentina for 3 years. He returned to Germany in 1911 and married Hedwig Koffmane, the daughter of a well-known Silesian theologian, in 1912. He served for 30 years as a pastor in Kreis Liegnitz until his retirement. During that time he wrote several books on the emigration of German "Old Lutherans." In 1939 he settled in Breslau but had to flee to Lindau during the "expulsion" after the war. He and his wife settled in Lindau and then moved to Wangen in 1951. He died in May 1958.
