Biographical / Historical
The Evangelisch-Lutherische Kinderfreund und Altenheim Gesellschaft von Missouri, as its name was when it was formed in 1903, was founded by the Rev. F.W. Herzberger. The Lutheran Altenheim was formed from this original organization on March 23, 1906 at Trinity Lutheran Church, the mother church in Saint Louis. Mr. Louis H. Waltke was the president at its founding, and Rev. A.P. Feddersen was the secretary.
During its existence it would have three homes: Altenheim-South was at 3652 South Jefferson Avenue; Altenheim-North was at 8721 Halls Ferry Road; and the Lutheran Nursing Home was at 1265 Maclaran Avenue.
