Plate. Zion Lutheran Church (Hastings, Nebraska), 1970 - 1975
Scope and Contents
This commemorative plate (9 1/4" diameter) has line drawings of each of the congregational churches (1900, 1913, and 1970). The upper legend reads: "1900 | 75 years of Grace | 1975". The lower legend reads: "ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH | HASTINGS, NEBRASKA". The reverse bears the inscription: "Zion Lutheran Church was organized on Sept. 4, 1900. Charter members were Prof. W. H. Kruse, Emil Polenske, George Brungardt, Jacob Schaefer, George Lenhart, Fred Ruhter, and John Staehr. The first church (a small German Baptist Church) was moved to 401 So. Denver Ave., serving as a House of Worship until 1913 when it was moved to St. Joseph & D St., used as a Christian Day School after a new brick church was built at 401 South Denver Ave. In 1928 a new brick school was built at St. Joseph & D St. Dedication Services were held on Oct. 24, 1971 for the new Worship-Educational Unit located at 601 So. Marian Rd. Seventh(sic)-Fifth Anniversary Services were held Aug. 9-10, 1975 to the Glory of God for Seventy-Five Years of Grace." The makers mark reads: "From the Kiln of Munsterman Ceramics | Glenvil. Nebraska".
