Plate. Immanuel Lutheran Church (Arapahoe, Nebraska), 1882 - 1982
Scope and Contents
This commemorative plate (9 3/4" diameter) has a line drawing of the exterior of the church over the following legend: "Immanuel Lutheran Church". The rim is gold-tinged and shaped with raised fruit. The reverse reads:
"Organized on September 3, 1882, Immanuel Lutheran Church is the oldest church in Gosper County Nebraska. From the very beginning it has maintained a Christian-day school which still has a good enrollment.
Early Settlers came from Washington County, Kansas, and Washington County, Nebraska, some from as far as Texas.
The first house of worship was a sod structure. Later a Chapel 20 by 40 was built and used for both church and school.
This present church was built in 1907. A modern two-room school stands across the road. The location is nine miles north and one and a half miles east of Arapahoe, Nebraska."
There are also two logos. One reads: "Eggshell Theme - Homer Laughlin - Made in U.S.A. - H56N4". The second reads: "World Wide Art Studio - A Division of Atlas Crystal Works, Inc. Covington, Tennessee".
