Scope and Contents

(JUN 2022 #2 M1) This antique bronze (Verbronze™) piece marks "the 500th anniversary of Dr. Luther's landmark translation and publication of the Greek New Testament into the German vernacular. This 2022 commemorative is a follow up companion piece to the 2021 Luther at the Imperial Diet in Worms, Germany before Emperor Charles V." This coin was designed and produced by Scott Blazek and minted by Osborne Coinage Co. (Cincinnati, Ohio: May 2022). The coin is 63mm diameter. The obverse has an image of an open bible overlayed on the globe of earth next to a small radiating cross and a bust of Martin Luther as Knight George (1522-2022). The legend reads: "GOD'S GOSPEL for the GLOBE | Marking 500th Anniversary - LUTHER - New Testament". The reverse shows Luther sitting at his desk in the Wartburg Castle next to the dates "MDXXII - MMXXII". The legend reads: "Dr. Martin Luther Translates Greek New Testament | "Search the Scriptures...!" John 5:39".
