Donated by Don Eckert. The following note was included: "This medal is to go to Concordia Historical Institute... It was brought from Germany with the Saxon immigration in 1839 with the Gruber group by my Great-Great Grandfather Michael Schiehsler. Handed down to my Great Grandmother (his daughter) Theresia born 1837 in Germany. Then to my Grandmother Emilie Petzoldt Doering. Then to my mother Susan Doering Eckert."
Physical Description
This is a gold ducat with chain. The obverse shows Noah's Ark afloat with the legend: "Befiehl dem Herrn deine Wege und Hoffe Aufihn". The reverse shows Noah and his family offering a smoking sacrifice under a rainbow with the legend: "Er wirds Wohl Machen". The ducat has been soldered to a 24" gold chain.
