This is a steel medal (2.9cm) commemorating the 400th anniversary of the Reformation. The obverse shows a full figure of Martin Luther in monk's habit with a hammer in his right hand and ninety-five theses in his left hand stepping up to the church door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg. There are two columns with putto on each side. The surrounding legend reads: "Luther Posting the 95 Theses". The reverse shows a Luther-rose and laurel leaves. The legend reads: "Here I Stand - I Cannot Do - Otherwise - God Help Me - 1517 - 1917". The surrounding legend reads: "Quadricentennial of the Reformation". (R 1917-12)
