Physical Description

Accession #: AUG 2022 #31. The obverse has a scalloped outer rim with a gold ring. The internal image is a brown line drawing of two church buildings and the following text.

The reverse has the following text. St. John Lutheran congregation was founded in 1886, ten years after the first service was held by Pastor Peter H. Dicke in the home of Herman Yakel. 40 acres of wooded land was promptly purchased for $100.00, and in 1887 a log church was built with logs taken from the land. This was used until 1904 when a new brick church was built for $7000.00. The log church then became the first school until 1913 when a brick school was built. An addition was added in 1952. A pipe organ was installed in the church in 1946. The church was extensively remodeled in 1964. The maker's mark is a maple leaf with the following text.
