Biographical / Historical
The back of the plate includes the following congregational history. Organized January 20, 1930 by Dr. Walter A. Maier. The building, erected by the Episcopal Church of St. George in 1881, was purchased by St. Stephen's in January, 1930 for $29,500. Pastors of St. Stephen's: Arthur C. Nitz, 1930-1948; Herman A. Etzold, 1948-1953; Paul Ph. Spitz, 1953--; Wm. A. Wittrock, Jr., assistant pastor, 1949-1950; E. J. Saleska, honorary assistant, 1943-1954.
School established 1937. Educational building completed 1952. Staff, 1953-1954: John M. Runge, principal, Mrs. Hugo Bloedel, Judith Jordan, Elda Lucht. Enrollment: 120. Church membership, 1954: 872 communicants, 1161 souls, 95 voting members.

Physical Description
This is a 10" diameter plate with a golden rim. The center of the plate has a line drawing of the exterior of the church. Under the drawing is the following text: St. Stephen's Lutheran Church - St. Louis, Missouri. The reverse indicates that the plate is a product of World wide Art Studios (Covington, Tennessee). Another mark identifies the plate as Eggshell Nautilus - USA - L54N5.
