Scope and Contents

Gown M1 made in India and was worn by Rev. Edward Lutz (born 1925)and Rev. Donald Lutz (born 1928). It was also worn by Rebecca Ellen Lutz (born 1954) in Hillsboro, Illinois. Gown M2 was also passed on to Rebecca Lutz. However, the use by the younger Lutz family is not known.

Biographical / Historical

Anton John Lutz graduated from Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis, Missouri) in 1912. He married Johanna Christina Scherer in Nagercoil, India in 1913. They had eight children; seven were born in India. Anton was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree by Concordia Seminary in 1939. The list of children is as follows:

  • Walter Harold (born 1921 in Idaho

Both baptismal gowns were made in India.
