Scope and Contents

(71-6-GT-2199; 71-6-GT-2233) Baskets of many sizes and shapes are woven from bamboo and nito fern. They are used for carrying products to and from the market. Other products of woven bamboo and nito include bags, trays, suitcases, etc. The basket is 4" tall, 4.5" diameter and has a 3" handle. Igorots are a tribe of people living in the mountainous areas of North Luzon. They are among the most industrious people in the Philippines and are the builders of the famous Binawe rice terraces. Their wood carvings are among the finest anywhere and their vegetables enjoyed throughout the islands.
