Biographical / Historical
The Northwestern District (Ohio Synod) was formed in 1882 from the Evangelical Lutheran Conference (1881-82) which consisted of pastors who left the Missouri Synod as a result of the Predestination (Predestinarian) Controversy. The district was divided in 1890 into five districts (Wisconsin, Minnesota, Washington, Kansas, Nebraska, and Texas), each of which had its organizational meeting in 1891.
