These items had been on the January 1988 accessioning shelf. They were loaned to an artist who was painting portraits of the Concordia Seminary presidents for the Seminary's 150th anniversary. When they were returned there was no donor information with the items, but they appear to be a donation from the office of the Seminary president. A photograph in the Alfred O. Fuerbringer biographical file shows Dr. Fuerbringer in his academic gown in the president's office. On the wall behind him...

This item was donated by Janet Schaefer Quiram. Her grandmother, Sophia Walther Shaefer was the daughter of Sophia and Constantine Walther. As Sophia aged, she went to St. Louis to live with her daughter, Sophia Schaefer. Sophia kept two pieces of the silver that was presented to C. F. W. Walther when he retired. When she was engaged to her seminarian husband, August Gerald Quiram, she was given both pieces. One item was given to her brother and this item she retained until giving it to CHI....
