Biographical / Historical
Carl Ludwig Janzow was born 1 July 1847 at Trassenheide, Usedom, Vollin, Germany, the youngest son of Carl and Caroline (nee Hartwig) Janzow. The family emigrated from Germany five years later and settled on a farm at Goeflein, Indiana, near Fort Wayne. Janzow attended the Fort Wayne preparatory school and graduated from Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis, in 1871. He spent much of his ministry at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Saint Louis, and worked to foster English language work. He died 5 May 1911 in Saint Louis.
