Missionary Journey Slide Grouping, 1947 - 1949

This slide grouping had multiple copies within the collection (only one copy has been retained) and consists of 150 slides with glass plate covers. There are 135 numbered slides stored in four small boxes. Also included are six duplicate slides, retained for their labels, and a further nine slides that were stored with a copy of the set, but don’t appear in the numbered set.

The boxes are simply labeled with the numbering of the contents, however the subjects within the slides apear to form a presentation about the missionary life of the Gussick family.

The numbered slides include the following subjects:

• Church exterior which appears to be the original building of St. Martin Lutheran Church, Chilton, WI (1)
• Interior photo of a group of men with Gussick, labeled elsewhere in the collection as "Bob's Commissioning" (2)

• Views from an airplane, one labeled elsewhere as "Bird's Eye View" (5)
• Airport, labeled on another copy of the slide as "Airport (Guat)" (6)

• Flora examples including flowers, palm trees and sugar cane (as labeled elsewhere)

The unnumbered slides, which appear to be related, include city buildings, people outside a grass roof building, a landscape, a monkey in a tree, an airplane at an airport, and groups of people at an event.

These slides are stored in slide container 22.

One copy of the numbered slide set had card labels which had become disordered. These read: "Antigua", "Antigua + good[?]", "Maguay[?]", "Puerto Barri", "Scenery" and "Zacapa". These are stored in the 4th small box.
